Option #2: Worker Mobilization Workshop For this assignment, develop a Workshop Proposal meant to mobilize workers about the issue selected in your Milestone assignment. In your Workshop Proposal, you’ll discuss the issue you wish to focus on and detail the changes you’re proposing to improve working conditions. Include a description of the industry and the profile of the workers you’re supporting.
Assume that you are presenting this to a group of workers who have invited you to share your expertise to bring about specific changes that will also include guidance and tools for lasting change. Your Workshop Proposal must include: Introduction: explain the proposal and demonstrate you have an understanding of the workers, their situation (family and community), and their industry. Discussion: explain the issues in detail. What are the specific challenge(s) workers are facing?
Proposal: provide details of your proposal including any steps necessary to achieve mobilization. POA: Your Plan of Action (POA) continues your proposal section by putting it into action. Detail the steps you mentioned in the previous section. Include how you will implement the change(s). Union Issues: Assume your audience is not unionized.
Discuss whether a union will benefit your group. Challenges: Include an explanation of what challenges you think your Worker Mobilization Workshop may have. Perhaps it’s the organization’s leadership or cultural investment from other workers. Communication: Suggest ways to roll out the plan as part of your presentation. Social media? Radio interviews?
Podcasts? FAQ: Anticipate (and answer) any questions you think people will have.
Reflection: Include a short reflection of the experience preparing the proposal. References: Your reference list can include works cited or consulted for your research. Take note of your instructor’s feedback from your milestone assignment and reach out with any questions you may have. Your paper should be 4-6 pages and conform to APA guidelines in the CSU Global Writing Center. Include at least five credible sources in addition to the course material. The CSU Global Library is a good place to find these references. You can access the CSU Global Writing Center and Library through the links in the Course Navigation Panel.
