Develop a teaching plan for a select target audience on a relevant health issue from Healthy People 2030.

 

Apply the teaching–learning process to a health-related situation in a systematic manner that reflects the principles of teaching and learning.
Use written, verbal, nonverbal, and emerging technology methods to communicate effectively.
Provide a teaching and learning environment that is sensitive and respectful to the diversity (sociocultural influences) of human experience.
Implement the appropriate patient teaching that reflects development stage, age, culture, spirituality, patient preferences, and health literacy considerations to foster patient engagement in their care.
Tasks
Students will develop a teaching plan for a select target audience on a relevant health issue from Healthy People 2030. The topic MUST BE the same as the one previously approved by your instructor and that was submitted in Module 5. The topic should be focused on health promotion, or prevention, not disease or illness, and the topic should have a target population.

 

Introduction – Brief paragraph about the topic and why the topic is important to learn about. Connect the topic to a relevant Healthy People 2030 objective. Describe the prevalence of the problem (how many people it affects). Be sure to properly cite and reference your sources.
Audience – Determination of audience (individual patient, family, or community).
Purpose and Goals – Purpose and goals of the teaching plan.
Assessment – Assessment of learning needs and learning environment.
Learning Objectives – Identify at least three learning objectives.
Topics divided into smaller units called Content – Identify at least three subtopics to be covered in the teaching.
Teaching Methods – Utilize at least two teaching strategies and support use with rationales/evidence.
Evaluation of Learning – Determine evaluation method for appraising audience learning and effectiveness of the teaching plan (eg. a quiz, a paper, a presentation, a game?)
