What is your view about the roles of non-autistic individuals in advocating for autistic individuals?
say this because Autistic individuals are looked at with the disability coming first before the person so with an non-austistic individual advocating for them and providing a view into what an person with Autism goes through in todays society ” arises from the interaction between a non-standard individual and an unaccommodating environment (the social model of disability; Consistent with this stance, many neurodiversity proponents do view autism as a disability”Leadbitter (et al. 2021). Even if someone understands autism they keep the person shelter and doesn’t treat the person like a person and advocates only to keep them away from society.
The non-autistic individuals here are advocating to allow them to get better health care , mental health care , more support from the community and be there to help them and not get passed along. “Self-advocates typically view autism not as a disease
that needs to be treated or cured but as form of neurodiversity that should be “embraced and accommodated.”(McCoy,2020) thing this is a good thing and it doesn’t seem like there is a hidden agenda.
How will you resolve to provide the best care possible during the early intervention process, even when faced with varying opinions?
As a new behavior analyst in the field
intervention stages to help us manage were we are , what is to come and what we might expect in the future as they grow.”We should evaluate the motivations driving the decisions around intervention targets and not assume that the things that make a good neurotypical life are identical to autistic priorities (Buckle, et,al. 2021Links to an external site.; We need to assess and look at the good of early intervention and the harm of it and decide what we can do that will be good maybe can also provide some harm and we should further research what other evidence base early interventions have work with an autistic individual for the sake of the patient.
